TNB SPONSORSHIP INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

YTN TNB SPONSORSHIP INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

WHAT TO WEAR:
There will two sessions: dresscode for first session  will be smart casual while the second session will be formal however many of us just wear formal attire throughout the session.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
1. make sure all documents are complete and will be better if you prepare two copies of documents
( just in case of emergency like who knows what gonna happen later)
2. do bring both original and copy of all the documents needed
3. do arrange the certificates in proper order and in nicely named- transparent file. important for giving good first impression.
- idea on the order ( ic copy, birth cert, academic certs, co-academic certs with order of higher achievement towards lower achievement)
4. do read on what TNB's vision , mision, new projects ( very important )- do focus on what we can contribute to them ! ( oh well they wont sponsor us for nothing if we can give them nothing) :) common sense
5. do have passion on what you apply.

THAT HISTORICAL DAY!
My interview was held at RHR Hotel which is located just nearby the Uniten. Upon arrival, there would be registration in the one of the halls. All documents were given during registration. Later, we would be gathered for briefing. Their focus would be on TNB , their the structural organisation, what they do, how they do, their future plan and etc.

The briefing wasn't that brief. It did take a lot of time until lunch. Around 12, we were allowed to leave for lunch and prayer. Lunch was provided.
Later, the real battle started. we were divided into small groups of 4-5 persons. The interview was completely in English. The format of the interview : two sessions- group interview and individual.

As for group interview, there would be two groups in one room. We were provided with mahjong paper to use for presentation . Our group topic's was on renewable energy. So basically we discussed more on how to make it possible in Malaysia, the advantages and disadvantages as well as the challenges to use it in Malaysia.

We were given 20 mins to discuss on the topic and they would access on our participation during the discussion . So here, feel free to discuss, to speak out your ideas with confidence. But at the same time, try to be a good listener. Do not shine out too much that you don;t give others to talk. Bear in mind they don't just want to access our confidence level but also on leadership. Just be yourself , then you will be enjoying the session. The least you could do if your were extremely nervous was to volunteer to write on mahjong paper. Well active participation is a must!

Next was individual session. We would all be gathered just outside the rooms. Our name would be called according to the group's name list. Each group would have their own assigned room.
Around 3:30 p.m, my name was called out. I was the second last in my group. As walked towards the room , i was having tachycardia. Nervous was my middle name. I knocked the door before entering. There were 5 interviewers sitting a line, with a chair just 2 meters away from their table. I brought my file and gave it to one of the interviewers.  Then i asked permission to sit. ( DO asked permission - again it is important to give good first impression) .

They briefly went through my certificates. So here few questions that were asked:
  1. Introduce yourself: here ideas on what to talk. rather than focus on your family background, do tell them whats your hobby, your strength, your weakness, your thought on certain isssues, your stand , your future plans, as well as how passionate you are on course that you apply
  2. how you imagine yourself in 10 years ahead: - give detail on your study plan, from undergraduate , postgraduate, from officer to senior officer , project manager , give affirmation on highest position you imagine you are able to achieve within that time period- also give detail on how you handle people under you- how you solve the problem when you are in higher position in the organisation; especially when the people around you are much older than you- what you do to gain their respects.- basically all about leadership
  3. Why you choose this course.
  4. How much you know about the course- so study on what you should expect from that course
  5. how to make renewable energy possible in Malaysia
  6. they will ask few random questions based on your certificates. as for me, i played squash so they asked about the squash ball .
  7. Do you apply any other sponsorship: if yes why

So that is it. They will give you call within 2-3 weeks after the interview if I was not mistaken. I got accepted only after I signed contract under JPA-MARA. so I ended up rejected the offer and here I am now under JPA-MARA scholar .
